to see the rhythm of the human heart

i am sitting in quite possibly the most un-inspiring writing locale ever. that would be the writing/computer lab at the UC. It is summer, and so it is pretty dead right now. In fact, so dead that the awkward pecking of my keyboard is noticeable, to all five people here. you know, noticeable in that way that you want to jump up and smack the guy in the row next to you in class who is clicking his pen repeatedly, or worse, and a true-to-life PT school scenario ... the girl who unwraps a blow-pop right as the scantron is being handed out for an exam. Ahh. In those moments, i would give about anything to slide out of my seat and move to another state to take my exam. Hmm. that slurping noise, tongue-smacking on that green apple sucker --- ahhhh! okaaaay. Moving on:

TCTCH is great. I saw a 14 oz baby in the NICU yesterday. I could see the rapid up and down rhythm of her chest -- i guess the effects of a tiny little heart with fragile, thin, pale, overlying skin stretched taut. it was amazing. i am still stunned that she was human. a human, baby girl. when i was seven or eight, my neighbors cat had kittens. This is what she resembled. Eyes closed, tiny like a newborn kitten.

tonite is supposed to have a full moon unlike any since'87. an allusion is supposed to make the moon look closer and larger than it has in over a decade. i am excited. Haven't decided if i will go to the park to view it (a tad scary to do alone at night) or sit on my balcony. either way, should be nice.
