driving to my parents while the sun was setting...

have you ever looked into the sky and for a brief moment looked through it? have you looked deeply, as if to see and impossibly grab onto the idea that there is no end to it all? the blue keeps going and going, past the clouds and the plane and the stars that you can't see. i don't know about you, but infinity scares me.

i used to ask people whether they like the stars or the moon more. might be a stupid question. so many people wanted to be clever and say both. but if you had to choose one or the other, which is it? people think i choose the lesser when i say the moon, but when i look at the moon, i stare at its changes in color and depth and it scares me. or fears me. fear of God is true worship and reverence for him. i don't worship the moon, but i fear it, revere the power of God in it.

it awes me. and so does the sky that is so big. and never ends.
it all reminds me that i am so little.

surely every man is vapor. ps. 39:11

whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." James 4:14
