stop this train
i am a little surprised at myself for posting john mayer. it isn't that i don't like john mayer but, i am not usually moved by him like i know some others seem to be. one of my friends got married the other day, sort of quickly, and i listened to this song in my car alone. i just wanted time to stop -- in that moment -- so he wouldn't get married. so things could be the same as when we were kids. and our biggest duels were when charlie and i were kicking his and dave's butts at hockey in my parent's driveway. i didn't think it would be so difficult. why do i feel like the train is going. people are getting up and sitting down and passing through the cars to greet someone new or just to simply pass to another car and i am sitting in a window seat. my hands are clutching tightly to a bag on my lap. i am gently looking right, out the window. the field passes so quickly that it is one golden streak. and i am still. not wanting anyone to see my tears.
No I'm not color blind
I know the world is black and white
Try to keep an open mind;
I just can't sleep on this tonight
Stop this train
I want to get out and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can
But honestly will someone stop this train
Don't know how else to say it, don't want to see my parents go
One generation's length away
From fighting life out on my own
Come on stop this train
I want to get off and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can but honestly won't someone stop this train
So afraid of getting older
I'm only good at being young
So I play the numbers game to find away to say that life has just begun
Had a talk with my old man
Said help me understand
He said turn 68, you'll renegotiate
Don't stop this train
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
Don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly we'll never stop this train
See once in a while when it's good
It'll feel like it should
When you're all still around
And you're still safe and sound
And you don't miss a thing so you cry when you're driving away in the dark.
Singing stop this train I want to get out and go home again
I can't take this speed it's moving in
I know I can
Cause now I see I'll never stop this train
No I'm not color blind
I know the world is black and white
Try to keep an open mind;
