so i took this 8 y/o outside with a scooter board the other day at his school. he is a funny little guy -- calls me "woman." yup. not sure on that one. wears black with fire streaks on his t-shirt. loves his vans. can't tie them on his own, but loves them. he also has some of those shoes with wheels built in -- can't remember what they are called even though he tells me all of the time as if i should know. anyway, we went on an expedition are around the outside of the school -- he sat on the scooter board and pulled with his legs and at times sat backward and pushed. we went over bumps, rocks, curbs, fell a few times. and so the kid quote of the week:

"this is cool. like extreme therapy!"

truth is -- rarely do i have a clue what i am going to do with a kid before the moment is present and they are staring at me, "so what are we going to do today?" i don't know where the extreme-therapy scooter board thing came from -- but thankfully it worked. every other time i see this kid he yawns at me or tries to kill himself making what i ask him to do a thousand times more dangerous. i mean, seriously, what kid wants to sit and learn to tie his shoes?
